MY FITNESS JOURNEY

During the first 45+ years of my life, I was blessed with good genes, I suppose. I could eat what I wanted without worrying about gaining weight. I could do pretty well in most sports that I played, from baseball to basketball, tennis and pickleball, among others, without getting injured. And then the mid-40’s hit and it all changed. I’d wake up with sore feet, sore arms, sore everything! I injured my shoulder just walking through my garage. Of course, the labral fraying was probably a result of years of wear and tear on my shoulder. This injury required major shoulder surgery and a long recovery. Reality had finally struck….in a bad way. I knew that I had to change my philosophy on fitness and strength training.

But here was the big issue - I wasn’t motivated, mostly because I didn’t know how to develop and stick to a workout routine that worked. I hated the idea of working out more than anything. I wasn’t motived to go to the gym, and it was too easy to get lazy trying to exercise at home. I couldn’t afford a personal training and if I did decide to go to the gym, I wouldn’t know what routine to follow to meet my goals. And then….I learned about Alloy Fitness, in Highland UT…

The minute I walked in, I knew it was where I was supposed to be. I felt welcomed and we started with a Goal and Needs Analysis, so the trainers would know what I’m trying to accomplish. Next was the Functional Movement Screening, where all of my movements, etc were measured. There was then a thorough discussion about the nutrition, training and overall plan of attack to help me reach my goals. Alloy is sort of a hybrid between having a personal fitness trainer and going to the gym. It’s the perfect combination! What I’ve enjoyed the most is the camaraderie with the trainers and other clients. You can sign up for sessions any time, but you’ll start seeing and training with the same people over and over. It’s great to have a family of people who are all striving to meet their fitness goals. And here’s the other great part…everyone is in a different fitness path. You could be in a session with a triathlete, grandpa who has never exercised a day in his life, and the entire spectrum in between. Every exercise is tailored to the individual….It’s awesome!

So with that, I’ve decided to partner with Alloy as I continue on my pickleball journey. They’ve already helped so much! I feel stronger and faster and healthier than I have felt in years!
